Obv: Three women in mourning standing before the tomb of the unknown soldier holding aloft laurels, AV SOLDAT INCONNV above

 

Rev: eight French soldiers carry the coffin of the Unknown Soldier to its resting place at the Arc de Triomphe, date 11 NOVEMBRE 1920 in left field

 

 

Condition: Extremely fine; Diameter: 68mm

Notes: A beautifully designed medal by Dammann (who also struck a well-regarded medal for the unveiling of the London Cenotaph). A modern restrike recently sold for 100 euro!
