Notes: The Ancient Order of Druids was part of a late 18th century revival in all things druidic. It was founded in 1781 at the King’s Arms in Poland Street, off Oxford Street, London. It was founded principally as a mystic brotherhood, an unregulated fraternal society, with charity towards impoverished members a secondary consideration. In 1833 many members split away to form the United Ancient Order of Druids, a registered friendly society.
