Condition: Very fine, good portrait; Diameter: 32mm

 

 

Notes: William Betty (1791-1874), a young Shakespearian actor ‘of considerable ability’ (BHM), was at the height of his fame in 1803-1804, touring Britain and Ireland. He retired in 1824 but was able to live for the next 50 years off the earnings made from his acting career.
