Rev: . engraved 1936 VICE-PRESIDENT’S runner-up J G HANSON-LAWSON UNIV. in 5 lines (hallmarked 1935)

 

 

Condition: Good very fine; Diameter: 38mm

 

 

Notes: Major John Hanson-Lawson, a veteran of Dunkirk, was a tank commander with the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry on D-Day (6th June 1944), being wounded in Normandy three weeks later when his tank was hit. There are many references to him in the book Brothers In Arms, One Legendary Tank Regiment’s Bloody War from D-Day to VE-Day by James Holland (Penguin 2022)
