Obv: view of the steamer Queen Mary, in exergue MARIA REGINA MARI ME COMMISIT (a queen confided me to the ocean)

 

Rev: a view of New York’s skyscrapers seen through Southampton’s medieval Bargate, shields of Southampton and New York either side, that of Cunard White Star line below

 

 

Condition: Extremely fine; Diameter: 70mm

Notes:.She was launched from the Clydeside shipyard in 1934, and her maiden voyage began on 27th May 1936, crossing the Atlantic from Southampton to New York. These medals were sold on board. She was retired in 1967 and is now a museum and restaurant in Long Beach, California
