Gallia Institute (London and Paris), a pair of silver prize medals awarded to Miss O Wakelin 1936, rare

 

 

Obverse: portrait of a refined woman, G and I on semi-circular extensions to the oval core medal

 

Reverse: engraved within laurel wreath, GALLIA INSTITUTE LONDON PARIS on semi-circular extensions to the oval core medal

 

Both medals were awarded to O Wakelin in July 1936, one for ‘Permanent Waving’ the other for ‘Beauty Culture’

 

Condition: Good very fine; Diameter: 45x34mm each

Notes: The Gallia Institute had its office at 26a Albermarle Street, London. It trained women to be hairdressers and beauticians, claiming to provide ‘first class practical training’ with practice on ‘live models’.
