BHM 2570; E 1495 Notes:
Raglan in fact died on 28th June. He lost an arm at Waterloo and
was appointed commander of British forces in the Crimea in 1854. Brown (BHM)
remarks: “The appalling privations of the British troops during the winter of
1854-55 have been judge to be largely the result of mismanagement at home, but
Raglan was made the scapegoat and worn out by his responsibilities and
dysentery, he died on 28 June 1855”. The reverse is in quite high relief,
which is unusual on a white metal medal of this diameter. Price
